The course discusses MSP history, how it is applicable to insurance carriers, developing internal protocols, recommended processes to address coordination of benefits, rights of recovery, and future considerations.
Medicare Set-Aside Administration: Understanding the Difference: (1 Hour Optional) This program is designed to help the adjuster understand the difference between self-administration and custodial administration of MSA funds, and the pros and cons of each. The course is an in-depth discussion on the benefits of MSA structured annuity settlements versus lump sum funding. CMS annual reporting requirements of post settlement MSA funds is explained in detail, in this class, including what is considered taxable income, and post exhaustion of MSA funds requirements.
Liability Settlements and Medicare: (2 Hour Law and Policy) This session offers a compliance overview for No-fault and Liability Insurance, state laws, private contracts, conditional payments, size and scope of MSA’s applicable to the case, and CMS approval recommendations. In this course program, you will learn the details of the lien process and special rules of CFR, 411.24.
Medicare Conditional Payments: Obligations and New Requirements Under Section 111 of the SCHIP Extension Act: (2 Hour Law and Policy) This program offers in-site into the new requirements under Section 111 and your obligations on compliance. We cover the purpose of the MSP, how it applies to claims management, basics of MSP recovery rights, conditional payment demands, penalties and interest for non-reimbursement within their criteria, and the purpose of the new Mandatory Insurer Reporting.
